Things from August

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

I'm ashamed to say that it actually took me a good week or so after release to get round to reading Cursed Child. I'll keep this entirely spoiler free and just say that I enjoyed it, it was definitely a little plot-holey, and I found reading a play a lot harder than reading a book.

When it came to tickets for the play, after 5 hours online queuing and almost missing it by 53 seconds (this is what happens when you're not paying attention), I managed to get some! Now I just have to wait almost a whole year until August 2017!

House of MinaLima

Theres an unintentional Harry Potter theme going on this month. I ended up in London at the beginning of the month, thanks to cheap train tickets, so thought I may as well pay a visit to House of MinaLima. I hadn't actually heard of it until I read about it over on Michelle's blog a few months back, but instantly knew I had to go, considering my favourite part of the studio tour was the letters and artwork.

Whilst there's a whole host of Harry Potter related fun on the 2nd and 3rd floors, the 1st floor is home to their super colourful collective noun prints, my personal favourite being "a dissimulation of tits".

Amsterdam

I feel as though I've been away a lot this summer, which was only cemented by my trip to Amsterdam with my two favourite people.

The weather was beautiful, the city was fantastic and Amsterdam has made it up there into my top favourite cities (surpassed only by Barcelona and London). We stayed in an apartment in the Museum District, which was the perfect size for three people and I would 100% recommend.

I definitely need to take a trip back as, whilst three days was the perfect break, there's so much that we didn't get to see and do. Probably because we spent a large proportion of our time in the supermarket/eating food.

In other August news:

  • Bake Off is back! We discovered that Fantasy Bake Off is now a thing, so if that's your cup of tea (slice of cake? loaf of bread?) no need to thank me.
  • I finally got my cat to spend quality time with me for the first time all summer. We watched Made in Chelsea together, FYI.
