Things from August

August was a tricky month. The very beginning bought the loss of a fantastic person, but it at least made me put a few things into perspective. Whilst the following weeks weren't exactly the most smooth sailing, I did manage to enjoy a wonderful, relaxing holiday in Menorca with one on of my best friends. Said holiday didn't exactly get off to the greatest of starts. A friend with a lot of blood, a trip to the medical centre, and stitches to be exact. Take note: Always stay hydrated and don't get up quickly from sleeping in the sun.

In keeping with the whole holiday talk, I thought I'd give the SPFs that accompanied me a mention. Being pretty pale myself, I can't help but stress the importance of sun cream. For the past couple of year I've been using Hawaiian Tropic. I won't lie, I originally bought it for the fantastic smell, but it turns out it offers great sun protection too.

When it comes to SPF for the face I'm picky. I've always hated putting sun cream on my face, so this year I invested in a face specific one. I decided on Clarins Super City Block and it didn't let me down, SPF 40 and a perfectly protected face all holiday long.

I probably say it every month, but how is it September already? I'll miss the Summer but, as I'm already dreaming of winter boots and chunky knits, I welcome the Autumn whole heartedly.

Things From July

July seemed to pass by without me really noticing. It was hot and I spent most of it struggling to sleep and struggling even more to dress for the weather. Summer clothing is not my forte.

Ever the fan of layering, I somehow managed to fit my favourite shirt into at least 90% of all outfits. This New Look offering from last year accompanied everything from strappy dresses, skirts, trousers. You name it, I managed to make it work. We could argue that given the heat, it definitely wasn't necessary, but it did make my outfits better. I promise.

Always late to the party (but impeccably timed to everything else in life) I've been loving Essie's Watermelon. The perfect colour for my toes, and fingers on the days I'm not working.

Lastly, the other week I discovered these amazing prints by Teacup Pirahna. As soon as a spied the Tangled one, I knew I had to have it. I'm in the process of chaining around my room, and these are going to make the perfect accompaniment.

Now here's a to a new month, a holiday and yet another birthday. Happy August.
