Details: Needle & Thread

A few months and far too many ASOS orders ago, I welcomed this gorgeous Needle & Thread combo into my life. I like to refer to it as my 'the princess outfit'. Last Sunday the princess outfit finally got it's big outing to my step-sister's wedding.

As soon as I saw the skirt, I knew it was the one. Tulle, midi, perfect for spinning round in. AKA my dream skirt. I'm also planning on taking it with me when I head off to Disneyland for my birthday. Maybe a little OTT but perfect for opportune twirling around the castle. It just so happened that the top was styled with it, which made my decision all the more easier. The shoes are also ASOS and, once I'd worn them in a little, were comfy enough.

I didn't actually take many photos at the wedding (was clearly far too busy drinking a few too many cosmopolitans) so if you fancy seeing the outfit on, here's an Instagram photo.

Details: Did someone say trainers?

On Saturday I made the conscious decision to introduce more colour into my life. I love a good monochrome look but, according to my mother, there are only so many grey jumpers allowed in one's wardrobe.

I came across this jumper/sweatshirt in Zara (I can't find it online yet) and fell in love. It's not necessarily my usual style, but it's my two favourite colours (after grey, obviously) and so it came home with me.

In keeping with things that aren't my usual style, the other week I purchased a pair of trainers. Shock horror. I'm the kind of person for whom trainers never see the light of day. I do own a pair for the gym, but considering I've not stepped foot in one for almost a year, they don't get a lot of wear.

Never have I looked at my ankles in such detail.

I came across these ones whilst I was out looking for loafers. These are definitely not loafers, but I really liked them. Me. I liked trainers. Who'd have thought?! The cork heel definitely played a part in swaying me. Plus, y'know, they're grey.

Don't worry. Next week I'll be back to chelsea boots and breton stripes.

I'm sure it's no secret that I like cats. I also like skirts. So when I came across a skirt covered in cats, I couldn't exactly say no, could I?

From a distance it looks like any other patterned skirt, but take a look up close and 'What's that? Oh, it's cats!' It's from Topshop, and it only cost me £22 so an all round winner.

In keeping with the purr-fectly feline theme (can't help it sorry), can we please discuss the phone case. I actually had it way back when I had my iPhone 4, and the upgrade to the 5s meant the loss of my favourite Gemma Correll Kitty Case. Luckily the lovely people at Iconemesis came to my rescue, and my phone can be covered in cats once more!

Details: Polka Dots

In the words of Jessica Day, "I brake for birds. I rock a lot of polka dots. I have touched glitter in the last 24 hours...but that doesn’t mean I’m not smart and tough and strong."

Or, if you're not a New Girl fan, polka dots are fantastic, ok.

With the summer coming to an end and the weather in that awkward in-between stage, I've found it tricky putting outfits together. I'm not quite ready to give up my favourite sandals, but dressing for Autumn is my favourite.

The next couple of weeks is all about enjoying my summer clothes, bare legs, and slightly warmer weather, before it's time to pull out the jeans and boots from the depths of my (very new and very shiny) wardrobe. Luckily I think this Topshop dress is the perfect transitional Summer to Autumn piece. Plus it's probably the comfiest dress I've worn in a long time.

For the past few years now, crochet has definitely been my go to summer style. This year I seem to have toned it down on the crochet front, but I couldn't resist the detailing on this Topshop offering.

Paired with last year's ASOS midi skirt, a simple pair of black sandals, and my favourite sunglasses, it makes for the perfect 'hot but also slightly cloudy' outfit.

I don't condone wearing your sandals whilst sitting on a brand new duvet, but I wasn't quite ready to go out and my bed is super comfy.
